Finally! Today for the first time in MONTHS - literally - there was blue sky ALL day. And it went up to 21C!
I just wanted to run and frolic with the squirrels.
Woo hoo!

Metamorphosis
I recently saw a much-larger-than-life-size doctumentary on "bugs" in the Omnimax at Ontario's science centre.
It was incredible seeing a fast forwarded version of an ugly caterpiller being transformed into a butterfly; while in the chrysalis the caterpillar completely loses its form, turning in to a liquid which somehow is recreated into a butterfly. It's a bit like our spiritual growth really. Messy, unlikely and beyond comprehension.
I think key is losing our form.
"He must increase, but I must decrease"
(John 3:30).

Triviality
while deep calls to deep
we splash around on the shores
of the ocean
building sandcastles
collecting shells
sitting under the banqueting table
eating cheese burgers
believing we are satisfied
while our souls starve
we splash around on the shores
of the ocean
building sandcastles
collecting shells
sitting under the banqueting table
eating cheese burgers
believing we are satisfied
while our souls starve

Poem
"The Hound of Heaven"
by Francis Thompson
I fled Him, down the nights and down the days;
I fled Him, down the arches of the years;
I fled Him, down the labyrinthine ways
Of my own mind; and in the mist of tears
I hid from Him, and under running laughter.
Up vistaed hopes I sped;
And shot, precipitated,
Adown Titanic glooms of chasmèd fears,
From those strong Feet that followed, followed after.
But with unhurrying chase,
And unperturbèd pace,
Deliberate speed, majestic instancy,
They beat -- and a voice beat
More instant than the Feet --"
All things betray thee, who betrayest Me."

Easter Sunday
Happy Easter! This morning my church (well, about 20 of us!) had a 6:30am sunrise serivce on the shore of Lake Ontario. It was complete with snow and minus degrees but was beautiful - the sun came up for us which was quite amazing, given the weather we've had here lately. Afterwards we went back to the church for a pancake breakast. He is risen!
Woooooo hooooo!
After waiting for months my work permit extension finally arrived - Thank you, O great, mighty and slow Government of Canada.
